IS THERAPY RIGHT FOR ME?

Therapy can be helpful if you’re experiencing difficulties with your mental health, feeling stuck in unhelpful patterns, or simply wanting to understand yourself better. You don’t need to be in crisis or have a specific diagnosis to benefit from therapy.

Together, we can explore the challenges you’re facing, develop a better understanding of what may be keeping them going, and work towards meaningful, lasting change. Therapy is a collaborative process, and we’ll work at a pace that feels right for you.

WHAT IS CBT (COGNITIVE BEHAVIOURAL THERAPY)?

CBT is an evidence-based form of therapy that explores the relationship between your thoughts, feelings, physical sensations and behaviours. It helps you understand patterns that may be contributing to your difficulties and develop practical strategies to manage them differently.

Our work together focuses on understanding what may be keeping these difficulties going, developing new ways of responding to challenging situations, and building skills you can apply in everyday life. My approach also draws on Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) and functional analysis, tailored to your individual needs and goals.

WHAT CAN THERAPY HELP WITH?

Therapy can help you better understand and manage a range of emotional and psychological difficulties, including anxiety, depression, panic attacks, OCD, trauma and stress. It can also help you recognise unhelpful patterns, navigate difficult relationships, build confidence and develop healthier ways of responding to challenging situations.

You don’t need to have a specific diagnosis to benefit from therapy. Our work together will be tailored to your individual experiences and goals, helping you develop practical skills and make meaningful, lasting changes in your everyday life.

DO I NEED TO SEE MY GP BEFORE STARTING THERAPY?

No, you don’t need to see your GP before starting private therapy. You can contact me directly to discuss your needs and explore whether working together would be a good fit. If you’re experiencing symptoms that may benefit from medical assessment or additional support, I may recommend speaking with your GP alongside therapy.

HOW MANY SESSIONS WILL I NEED, AND WHAT IS THE COST?

I typically offer between 12 and 25 individual therapy sessions, each lasting 50 minutes. The number of sessions will depend on your individual needs, goals and progress. Together, we’ll regularly review how therapy is going and ensure our work remains focused on what matters most to you. Sessions cost £65 each.

HOW DO I BOOK AN APPOINTMENT?

Getting started is simple. You can contact me directly tellmeatime@outlook.com to arrange an initial conversation, where we can discuss what’s bringing you to therapy, what you hope to achieve, and whether working together feels like the right fit. From there, we can agree on the next steps and arrange your first session.

IS MY THERAPY CONFIDENTIAL?

Yes, confidentiality is a fundamental part of therapy. What you share during our sessions will be treated with respect and kept confidential, allowing you to speak openly in a safe, non-judgemental space.

There are some exceptions where confidentiality may need to be broken, such as when there is a serious risk of harm to you or someone else, or where disclosure is required by law. Wherever possible, I will discuss this with you beforehand.

WHAT DO I DO IF I’M IN CRISIS?

If you’re experiencing a mental health crisis or feel unable to keep yourself safe, it’s important to seek immediate support. If you’re in the UK, you can contact your GP, call NHS 111 and select the mental health option where available, or contact Samaritans on 116 123 for someone to talk to.

My therapy sessions are not designed to provide emergency or crisis support, so please seek appropriate help if you need immediate assistance. You don’t have to manage things alone.
